Welcome to the website of MorningStar Counseling Center. We are a Christian counseling agency based on Christian principles located in Columbia, Missouri that serves the Mid Missouri community. We provide a full range of services to meet the counseling needs of those with individual, family and marriage concerns. Our purpose in developing this site is to give our growing community information about who we are and what we do. In addition, we want to provide access to other resources that may be of interest and aid to those who are in need of help and healing.

Much like the growing Mid Missouri community we are a part of, our agency is always seeking to meet the changing needs of those we serve. With this in mind, we encourage you to check our site periodically for resources that can be of help for personal and family growth, such as articles on key topics, ministries, workshops and seminars.

Our story

MorningStar Counseling Center began in 1998 as a cooperative effort of Little Bonne Femme Baptist Association and Dr. Susan Murray. Our goal has been to create a place where people of all ages and faith persuasions are welcomed and offered compassionate, biblically based encouragement and counseling. As we began serving individuals and families, it became apparent that the need extended beyond the Columbia area. People called and came from all over the Mid Missouri area, from as far away as Kirksville. It became obvious that there was a serious lack of dependable, competent Christian counseling available in our area. The need is great. People from both within and outside the church are hungry for understanding and help as they explore how to heal and resolve the difficulties they face.

Two things that distinguish us:

• We offer fees on an 'ability to pay', or sliding scale, basis.
• We serve as a training ground for emerging professionals who want
  a Christian setting in which to work
